What are some good tips on caring for oily hair?

My hair is really soft and healthy, (I never had splits because I try not too straighten my hair too much) but my problem is it’s pretty oily. I have to wash it every day or it will look horrible!!! It’s a bit fragile too. The hairs are thin but i have a lot of hair. How should I care for it? What are some good tips and advice?

* Also I heard that it is not a good idea to buy shampoo for oily hair and that it actually worsens it. Is that true?
