In the new keratin hair treatments like the Brazilian Blowout and Global Keratin products, is it better to use one that has 2% or 5% hydrolyzed keratin? Is the 5% good for your hair, or is it enough to cause breakage?
Answer by Raji
Keratin hair treatments with different compositions are formulated to suit different hair types and requirements. If your hair is very curly or frizzy then you can go for higher compositions. More than keratin it is based on the formaldehyde content.
For example Global Keratin has four different compositions which are
Keratin Hair Treatment with 2% Formaldehyde works great on colored, bleached, relaxed and highlighted hair. It will make your hair soft, shiny, healthy and straight (straight 100% if your hair is not extremely curly or virgin). It is recommended for all hair types.
Keratin Hair Treatment with 4% Formaldehyde is recommended for virgin, very curly and afro hair. The additional Formaldehyde content will make your hair totally straight, sleek and conditioned. However this product is not suggested unless your hair is extremely curly or virgin and curly.
For those preferring to stay away from formaldehyde there is a Formaldehyde Free product. This treatment absolutely does not contain Formaldehyde. It is suitable for clients who are looking to soften their curls or waves and make their hair healthy and shiny. Depending on the hair type it will also provide some straightening. However it works best on previously chemically treated hair. This treatment is formulated with keratin complex and Silica which act with high effectiveness to leave the hair lustrous, manageable and hydrated.
Lastly there is also a Keep the Curl treatment. This product does not contain formaldehyde and does not straighten the hair. It is recommended for people who want to keep their curl but close the cuticles. In general it keeps the hair healthy.
so based on your needs you can choose the product. Remember to use keratin based shampoos and conditioners after the treatment. they should be essentially sodium chloride free to increase the longevity of the treatment.
Checkout Global Keratin’s line of effective aftercare products like deep conditioner and clarifying shampoo.
Keratin in general is the primary protein of hair and it will not cause hair breakage. It will only make it healthy and strong.

I wonder which is better? I think we all want to know? Also, a lot of these products promise to re-grow hair on the crown. Do you think Provillus or Procerin helps re-grow hair on the front of the head as well? The hair line? Thanks for your help!

You’ve already made up your mind to try one of them – so it doesn’t matter anyway to try to convince you that neither of them work. They just take your money & laugh all the way to the bank.

I burnt my hair by perming it and had to cut it all off. I’m trying to grow it back but I’ve never had fast growing hair. I bought Provillus and L-Cysteine 500 mg and am taking them both. My hair seems to be growing but the ends look burnt on my hair. I’m trying to figure out if taking these two together is a bad combination or if it is helping and it is something else that is making my hair do this crap. I’m 34 yrs old and I need to keep what I have before it all falls out. I am also using F.A.S.T shampoo and conditioner. I’m just wondering is all this helping or making it worse.

i think taking it together is okay but the problem isnt in the medicine. you should keep on trimming the ends, trimming actually makes your hair grow faster, and that combined with medicine will take the burn look away and add length. good luck!

I bought Biotin shampoo with silica about a month ago for thinning hair near my temples. I recently read about Nisim Biofactors shampoo for thinning hair/regrowth. Is it fine/good/bad if i use them both, or if it is bad, which one would benefit me more? Please help!

Second-line CML drugs evoke faster, better front-line remissions
Separate international phase III clinical trials compared high-quality remissions between previously untreated CML patients who took the standard-of-care drug imatinib and those on the second-generation drugs dasatinib and nilotinib. “The second-generation CML drugs are more effective than imatinib and less toxic overall,” said one of the researchers.
