How does a doctor check for women’s very thinning hair?

I am a 44 year old woman and I had more than average hair. But, I have been losing a lot of it. I figured that maybe it will stop because everyone has a little hair loss. But it has continued to fall for about 3-4 years and specially in the past few months. Everytime I brush my hair I lose a lot of hair. I don’t know when this is going to stop and now I only have a little bit of hair on the front and sides of my face. What type of doctor should I see? What are the methods or tests they use to determine what the cause is?

What kind of doctor would I look up in the phone book for hair loss? Any advice on hair loss? Anything work?

My hair has been falling out for years now and at this point the whole top of my head only has a thin layer of hair. The front of my head still has more but it is fading and I notice it is spreading more and more to the sides of my head. None of my parents have hair loss issues nor did their parents. The thinning out did not start at the top back of my head, so Rogaine is out of the question since it says on the bottle that it is only for the top back of your head; that is if that stuff actually works. In the mean time I have been using shampoo that gives fluff to your hair which helps but soon I will either be bald up top or shave my head and do a military type cut. I’m only in my 30’s and this started about 4 years ago, so it seems kind of soon. I almost never wear hats and try not to use gel/hairspray whenever possible. Any advice? Can any kind of doctor give me more info? I am not interested in crazy surgeries or hair plugs. Thanks for any help!

What doctor should I go to for hair loss?

I recently noticed that I have been loosing quite a bit of hair towards the front of my scalp. I tried the volume shampoo and conditioners and it helped a little but I really want to kick this problem before it gets worse. What kind of doctor is the best one to go to for hair loss. I really do not think its so serious where I need to go to an actual “hair loss” company. Lets just say there is enough hair missing that my mom pulled me aside and talked to me about it.

What doctor should I see for women’s hair loss?

The general doctor I saw a while back said it was no big deal. I can pick up all my hair into a ponytail with a tiny little clip and I’m 25. That’s a big deal! Even my hairstyling said my line is thinning too much.
It falls in clumps especially after showering and during the day i shed everywhere. I already use nutri-ox and have upped my calcium intake. What the heck should i do???
