Female Sex Chromosomes, Not Just Hormones, Help Regulate Blood Pressure
Researchers at Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) have determined that something in female sex chromosomes appears to trigger a rise in blood pressure after the onset of menopause. This finding challenges the current belief that sex hormones are largely responsible for regulating blood pressure. Their work, reported online Monday in Hypertension, is the first of its kind and involves …

Hey, I’m Nicole, I’m 17 and I just finished chemotherapy for Hodgkin’s Disease a week ago. I only have a few hairs left, but they’re very thin and frail and lost all colour. I used to have thick, dark, straight, beautiful hair, and I want it back fast, if possible.
I’m using Aminexil vials from Kerastase, and Kerastase Hair Loss Prevention Shampoo. Will these products help my hair grow back fast, or am I wasting my money on this expensive treatment for nothing?
(I also started taking SOLARAY Hair Blend, capsules. Do you have any idea if these have any effect?)
Thank you so much for your answer.
Love,
Nicole

i am a 17 year old female … i was on accutane for 6 months and have now been off it for about 3 months. i hardly experienced any side effects while on the drug, but just within the past month (about 2 mos. after being off the drug) i have been losing tons of hair… i notice it mostly in the shower (big wads of hair down the drain) and it is noticeable around my hairline.
this scares me since this has only starting happening after going off accutane (i know for a fact it is due to the drug). anyone else experienced this? will the hair loss eventually stop? will it grow back?

For the past year I have been experiencing a sore scalp in a male balness pattern. You know…in the front top of my scalp in a U shape. Its getting really bad. Not so much receeding anymore but taking a deeper U shape. When ever my scalp gets sore in this area my hair falls out quite rapidly and with barely any touch. I falls out from the follicle. When the soreness goes away, my hair stops falling out. Sometimes my scalp gets so sore that it hurts just to move my hair from side to side. Anybody every experience this or heard of it?

I am a 27 years old women and about 5 years ago my hair starting thinning, not just on my head but my lashes and eyebrows too. It is also very weak, lighter in color(as it gets closer to the root) and doesn’t curl like it used to. I have seen a few dematologist who told me its probably hereditary and told me to use rogain for the thinning of the hair on my head. this is hard to except, no one in my family has hair loss like mine and from what ive read hereditary hair loss usually comes from the mothers side. my mother and grandmother both have very full and healthy hair. I have older sisters and they have never experienced this kind of hair loss either. I see all the products that claim that work but im more then overwelmed. I started researching the effects of candida and mercury fillings and if there could be some connection to my hair loss.I know doctors are not always right and are egar please if anyone has had a simular experience and/ or any suggestions please share them with mm

Hi,
I’m 30 and facing premature thinning of hair and a bald head should start appearing in a few more months. No one in my family is bald so I doubt if its genetic. I read about the benefits of Licorice in prevention of premature balding and surely want to try this no-sideeffects method.
Can anyone who really knows, tell me if its Licorice-Leaves or Licorice-Root which is what is helpful in preventing premature balding?

I have natural thin, fine hair. This summer I dyed it with veggie dye; a red hue. I don’t think that’s the cause, however.
Basically this summer I noticed my hair line is receding. I was stressed about college, but I’ve been stressed much more than this and my hair has never fallen out like this.
I take a shower in the morning, then brush it. A lot comes out then, and it’s tangly and painful. Then I blow dry it. I do not use gels or hair agents.
It’s ruining my small self esteem that I have. I’m afraid everybody notices it.
What natural way can I thicken my hair with, and stop this hair loss? Also, any tips/advice?
Thanks in advance…this is a horrible problem for a young woman!

I’m 40, have 3 kids (9, 6, 3) and have noticed over the last 3-5 years my hair falling out and beginning to thin on top. This is extremely distressing to me and I’m worried to death about it. My thyroid is in check and I have no health problems that cause hair loss, so I don’t know how to fix this problem. My ob said there’s really nothing anyone, male or female, can do about thinning hair. It’s just age, hormone, stress related. He said even Rogaine doesn’t work or else we wouldn’t still see bald men, much less women! Does anyone who has had this problem know any treatments that truly made a difference before I go spending tons of cash on a million products promising thicker hair. Mind you, I’m not bald or balding – I’ve just noticed a definite thinning on the crown of my head and have to carefully style my hair so that my scalp doesn’t show.

My parents have lush thick black hair, and I did too up until a month ago. Everyone is telling me it’s from stress but I’m not under a significant amount of stress. I noticed it when I was pulling my hair back in a pony tail and the thickness was almost half of what it typically is. I’m starting to get very concerned and obsessing over it. I don’t have health insurance, so I can’t see a dermatologist or hair specialist, but my school has a health center that I plan on going to. Any suggestions/ideas? Serious answers only please. I appreciate it!!

I’ve always had a head full of thick hair. While it’s still thick, I think it’s thinning. I don’t see a lot of my hair fall out, but who knows. My grandpa on my mom’s side was bald, so does that mean that I probably will have thin hair? I dye my hair also and use heating products to fix it. I also have a widows peek for a hairline… and I feel like it’s diminishing. I’m about to finish my first year of college (straight out of high school) and I’m really nervous. No one else can tell becauase my hair is still tihick… but I definitely can tell and I don’t like it. Do the anti hair loss products actually work? I would go to the doctor, but I go to school out of state and I’d just like to know something to ease my mind.

I am a black woman who has experienced hair loss around the edges of my hair and along the sides. After researching, I’ve found that I have Alopecia which is caused from pulling the hair back to tightly or braiding along the edges to tightly. Since then, I’ve changed hair style and now were a flat ironed look. But I’d like to grow this area back in because there are times when I like to wear my hair pulled back off my face. Any help and information would be helpful.
